7Story offers a range of design and consulting services to create vibrant public spaces.

Design
Working with a cadre of enormously talented art/design collaborators, we create diverse, cutting-edge, interactive experiences tailored to the site. Projects can be scaled large or small and can be temporary or permanent. Current directions include:

• Mobile Interpretive Experience, enabling people to receive programmed images, text, video, audio and animation into their cell phones at specific locations – a most imaginative way to make the invisible visible.


• Responsive Artworks, allowing viewers to affect their environment through interactions such as moving images on a digital screen with their body movements, playing musical notes with their feet in a plaza or triggering sounds when walking down the street.


• Contributory Experiences, enabling users to contribute and share written, spoken or visual content through a mediated virtual/physical experience.

Consulting
Through our consulting services we help clients with everything from engaging a community in a large land use planning initiative to understanding what would make a new health center culturally-responsive to activating a streetscape. Services include:

• Strategic Planning, which can include visioning, project planning, resource development (such as grant writing) and the development of community collaborations with like-minded individuals and organizations.


• User Research, which involves 7Story’s own ArtSpeak process, focus groups, interviews and other approaches to elicit the themes, metaphors, images and stories most relevant and meaningful to a user group.


• Community Outreach and Engagement, during which we use culturally-responsive communications and activities to engage the public. Can include workshops, design competitions, community art projects, events and other offerings.
